Kevin Sites and the problem with journalists

Kevin Sites was the NBC cameraman who taped the shooting of a wounded jihadist in Fallujah. Yahoo! News hired him some time ago, but I only just got around to looking at his website. Therein is perhaps the most pompous statement I've ever heard from any journalist:

"We strongly believe, as stated in the preamble of this code, "that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy."

One wonders how there was justice or democracy prior to journalists and their ethics codes. Perhaps there wasn't?

Personally, I think these guys have a lot more to do with justice and democracy than cretins like Sites:

Sites must have missed Zell Miller's speech at the Republican convention, otherwise he'd know who's responsible for the freedoms and democracy people enjoy wherever they might live.

I agree his statement might just take the award for pomposity, and considering some of his journalist competition that's saying something.
